This program is designed for aspiring aviators who want the freedom to fly for personal travel or pure adventure. With our supportive team, experienced Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs), and a proven training structure, you'll be equipped with the skills and knowledge to become a confident, capable pilot. Whether your goal is weekend getaways or building a future in aviation, it all starts with one unforgettable step , schedule your discovery flight today and experience what it’s like to fly an aircraft for yourself.
Step 1. Discovery Flight
An introductory flight for people who are interested in flying. You fly the airplane and determine if flight training is right for you.
Step 2. Medical Exam
Prior to flying solo, you will need to complete a medical exam by a Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) to ensure you are fit to fly.
Step 3. Written Exam
You'll complete ground training to learn aviation theory, regulation, and weather. You'll have all the knowledge to pass your FAA written exam.
Step 4. Flight Exam
You'll fly with your first passenger, a FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and demonstrate you meet the requirements of the Airmen Certification Standards (ACS).
Meet Your Certified Flight Instructor
Once you decide to begin training, you’ll be paired with a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). Together, you’ll create a tailored plan based on your goals and availability, backed by the full support of the Blue Skies Above team.
Build a Consistent Flight Schedule
Early on, you’ll work with your instructor to set a training schedule. We recommend flying 2–3 times per week to build strong retention and steady progress. More frequent lessons help reinforce key concepts and reduce the need for review.
Learn the Fundamentals
Your training begins with ground instruction, where you’ll study essential topics like aerodynamics, navigation, and aircraft systems. This foundation prepares you for hands-on flight lessons that start with the basics , flying straight and level, takeoffs, and landings.
Develop Skills & Confidence
Each lesson builds on the last with increasing complexity. You'll practice handling in-flight scenarios, improve your decision-making, and gain confidence in the cockpit. Staying consistent, studying regularly, and asking questions are the keys to your success.
