Founded in February 2023 by Matthew Bourguignon, Blue Skies Above was built on a simple premise: flight training should be efficient, mentorship-driven, and deeply connected to the community. As a locally owned Part 61 flight school, we offer the flexibility you need to pursue your Private Pilot Certificate or advanced Commercial Pilot ratings without the rigid barriers of traditional university programs.
Our location at Lanett Municipal Airport (7A3) is strategically chosen. We are just 30 minutes from Auburn and Opelika, providing a quiet, tower-free environment where you spend your time flying, not idling on the ground waiting for clearance. With over 200 flyable days a year and in-house maintenance, we ensure our fleet of six Garmin-equipped Cessnas is always ready when you are.
